Tricia Black (she/they) is a Canadian actor, comedian, songwriter, and filmmaker based in Toronto. They are a three-time Canadian Screen Award winner and six-time nominee, a two-time Canadian Comedy Award winner, and a TO WebFest Best Ensemble Cast winner. Their CSA wins include Best Performance in a Digital Series for Band Ladies (2021) and Stories from My Gay Grandparents (2025), and Best Performance in Animation for Summer Memories (2023).

Originally from Quispamsis, New Brunswick, Tricia studied Theatre, Music, and History at Mount Allison University, where they ran Black Tie Productions, led the Garnet and Gold Society, and were part of the inaugural cast of Presents the Improv. They went on to train at The Second City Toronto, performing in three mainstage revues — the 84th Revue (Ashley Botting), If I Could #Throwback Time (Rob Baker), and Welcome Back To The Future (Paloma Nunez) — as well as the highly regarded theatrical She The People (Carly Heffernan), which also had a run at Mirvish Theatre.​

WHO IS TRICIA?
Tricia serves as Creative Director of Tweed & Company Theatre, an award-winning company in Hastings County, Ontario, where they write, compose, and produce original Canadian musicals. Their compositions include Hastings! The Musical and I'll Fly Away, and in 2023 they co-wrote and directed Both Sides Now, a Joni Mitchell theatrical concert created with the Uncommon Folk Collective. They co-wrote the musical feature film Fight The Moonlight with Caitlin English, which was in development with Highball TV. They are currently writing the screenplay and original score for their debut feature, The B-Side: Dusk, which earned them a place in the prestigious Women In the Director's Chair (WIDC) Career Advancement Module.
During the pandemic, Tricia created, hosted, and produced A Night With Tricia Black, a live late-night talk show on YouTube. Their directing credits include the music video for Jordan Armstrong's single "Duel" (in post-production), the proof-of-concept trailer for The B-Side: Dusk (IPF development funding secured; 250K+ views on KindaTV), and original comedy sketches for digital platforms.
